The WPPA’s Inquest Bill to Get a Vote in the WIsconsin State Assembly

With the leadership of Assembly Speaker John Gard (R-Peshtigo) and Assembly Majority Leader Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem), the Assembly Rules Committee has voted to give the WPPA’s inquest bill a vote on the floor of the Wisconsin State Assembly on Tuesday, December 6.  Senate Bill 132 would require public employers to reimburse law enforcement officers and other public safety employees for reasonable attorneys fees if an inquest finds no wrongdoing for actions taken in the line of duty.  Introduced by State Senator Ted Kanavas (R-Brookfield) and State Representative Brett Davis (R-Oregon), SB 132 would protect public safety employees from having to second-guess their actions out of fear that a potential inquest could lead to financial ruin.
