Through an election administered by the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission (WERC), the deputies in Sauk County have elected to join the WPPA. The deputies chose the WPPA, Wisconsin’s largest law enforcement group, over their current representative, AFSCME Council 40.
The WPPA continues to grow because more officers recognize the superior services it provides to Wisconsin’s law enforcement community. And given the many challenges facing that community, it’s clear that no one is more capable than the WPPA when it comes to protecting and promoting public safety, as well as the interests of the dedicated men and women that serve to provide it.

I’ve worked diligently with lawmakers from both political parties to protect the ability of our state’s law-enforcement officers to keep our communities safe. People are overwhelmingly frustrated with the partisan bickering that they see occurring at nearly every level of government today. Police officers, deputy sheriffs, and citizens alike all recognize that matters of public safety and criminal justice are simply too important to be controlled by the dictates of partisan affiliation.
