The WPPA Congratulates Eight Wisconsin Officers Nominated for the Annual Top Cops Award®

Launched by the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) in 1994, the TOP COPS Awards® pay tribute to outstanding law enforcement officers across the country for actions above and beyond the call of duty.

The WPPA is proud to congratulate eight Wisconsin law enforcement officers recently nominated for this year’s TOP COPS Awards®.  These officers were nominated by their fellow officers for outstanding service during the preceding calendar year.

This year’s Wisconsin nominees are:  Officer James Page (Onalaska Police Department), Deputy Sheriff Daniel Baudek (LaCrosse County Sheriff’s Department), Officer Bruce Rogers (Monona Police Department), Officer James Reiter (Monona Police Department), Patrol Officer Terry Endries (Marshfield Police Department), Patrol Officer Michael Topness (Marshfield Police Department), Lead Officer Steven Leu (Marshfield Police Department), and Sergeant Keith Severson (Dane County Sheriff’s Office).

“Given the terribly dangerous environment confronting Wisconsin’s law enforcement community, it is tremendously important to recognize the extraordinary acts of heroism that our officers perform to keep us safe,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer.  “These officers, and so many others who are also deserving of recognition, help keep this state a safe place in which to live, work, and raise a family, and we must never forget the dedication and sacrifices that make that possible.”

The TOP COPS® are selected by an Awards Selection Committee comprised of national law enforcement representatives who choose one TOP COPS® case from each state and U.S. territory. The cases are then ranked and the top ten case winners are flown to Washington, DC for the awards ceremony. The awards show features a three-minute videotape of each TOP COP® and his or her story.

The TOP COPS Awards® are attended by celebrities, politicians, members of the national law enforcement community, corporate donors and other interested individuals.
