MADISON–The Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) announced today its endorsement of Jessica King in her campaign to represent the 18th State Senate District. The WPPA’s board of directors, which is comprised of active law enforcement officers from all across the state, overwhelmingly chose to support King after closely evaluating her record against that of the incumbent, Randy Hopper.
“Whether it has been serving the public on the Oshkosh City Council or as a Deputy Mayor, Jessica King has shown that she understands and appreciates the vital role that law enforcement plays in promoting Wisconsin’s outstanding quality of life,” said WPPA Executive Director, Jim Palmer. “By contrast, Randy Hopper recently voted to cut state funding for police services at a time when assaults on officers are increasing at an alarming rate. Given this stark comparison, the choice was clear. Jessica King will protect and promote public safety in the way that Randy Hopper has not.”
With over 11,000 members from nearly 400 local association affiliates, the WPPA is the state’s largest law enforcement group.
