Update on Officer Williams and K-9 Grendel

The condition of Fond du Lac Police Officer Ryan Williams has been upgraded to serious condition at Theda Clark Medical Center. Physicians stated that Officer Williams is making remarkable progress in his recovery. His breathing tube has been removed and he has been able to sit up for short periods of time.

A fund has been established at Fox Valley Savings Bank, 51 East 1st Street in Fond du Lac for the Williams’ family to help offset expenses related to the serious injuries he sustained and the long recovery process ahead of him.

Officer Williams’ K-9 Partner Grendel remains in critical but stable condition at a Fox Valley animal hospital. Grendel continues to show signs of improvement. He was standing for short periods of time and has started to drink water on his own. The Department has received many inquiries regarding contributing to the care of K-9 Grendel’s medical expenses. Persons wishing to contribute to this fund may direct their donations to the City of Fond du Lac Police Department K-9 Fund, 126 N. Main Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.

The Police Department is warning the public to be aware of possible scams in which people are attempting to raise funds by exploiting this tragic incident. Citizens may contact the Fond du Lac Police Department to confirm any legitimate fundraising information.
