MADISON – On September 28, the political action committee for the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) announced that it will be running a television ad supporting both Tom Barrett for Governor and J.B. Van Hollen for Attorney General. Representing the vast majority of law enforcement officers working in Wisconsin’s towns, villages, cities and counties, the WPPA hopes that the ad will help Barrett, a Democrat, and Van Hollen, a Republican, get elected, and highlight our bipartisan endorsement record.
“The WPPA’s mission is to protect and promote public safety, as well as the interests of the dedicated men and women who serve to provide it,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer. “We firmly believe that public safety is an issue that should rise above politics, and while we don’t believe that message has ever been conveyed quite this way before, we are confidant that the public will agree.”
The WPPA’s elected board of directors, which is comprised of active officers from all across the state, voted to support Tom Barrett for Governor and J.B. Van Hollen for Attorney General earlier this year. In addition to being available on this website, the ad will air during the October 3rd Green Bay Packer game against the Detroit Lions.
With over 11,000 members from nearly 400 local association affiliates, the WPPA is the state’s largest law enforcement group.
