National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
Every year during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored. This week-long event, initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that should be set aside so everyone can be made aware of their hard work and dedication.

Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, D.C., to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The annual ceremony, honoring and remembering Wisconsin law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, is held in correlation with National Police Week activities. The Wisconsin Professional Police Association will host a continental breakfast on Friday, May 19, to welcome all active and retired law enforcement officers to Madison for the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. The breakfast will again be a pancake and sausage breakfast, taking place before the vehicle procession to the State Capitol to honor Wisconsin’s fallen officers.
